Ripcord wire, otherwise known as lamp cord, is ideally used for making custom cord sets and other wiring applications for any household or industrial appliance, including light extension cords or alarm systems. The lamp cord itself is designed as an 18 gauge, 2 conductor cable that is encapsulated in black, white or brown PVC insulation, which provides protection against flame, moisture, and abrasion. The wire ends can be easily separated while remaining intact throughout the length of the cord. Each spool listed below is SPT 1 and is available in lengths of 250 feet and 5,000 feet.


  • Insulation coded for easy identification Type SPT-1.
  • Plastic insulation 1/32" thick.
  • Rated 300 volts.
  • 18 gauge, 2 conductor parallel wire also known as lamp cord.
