Spade Terminals

Spade terminals, also referred to as spade connectors, are used to mate, connect, or terminate a single wire on your wire or cable install. The shape of the spade connector resembles a fork, hence the term spade terminal. That fork shape of the terminals allows the spade connector to easily connect the wire to a screw or stud type electrical connection. The fork shape also provides the ability to simply install or remove the spade connector as needed without having to fully remove the stud or screw it is attached to. This design makes spade terminals an ideal choice for tight spaces with limited room for installation or replacement. Each spade connector listed below carries different sets of characteristics such as amperage rating, insulation type, and gauge size. These varying characteristics across the Del City spade terminal line ensures that the spade connector you select meets the demands of your specific application, project, or install.

The heat shrink spade terminal line offered is manufactured with electrolytic copper and a heat shrink insulation which seals the terminal. A heat shrink spade connector tends to be considered the most durable type of spade connection as it offers the greatest pull strength, are waterproof, and protect against corrosion. Other spade connection insulation options available include vinyl and nylon-insulated. Vinyl-insulated spade terminals are the most economical terminal available due to their insulation material. The nylon-insulated spade connectors provide a more flexible option to the vinyl and also resist heat more thoroughly. Vinyl and nylon-insulated spade terminals are ideal options for marine applications. The heat shrink, vinyl, and nylon spade connector lines are all color-coded to industry standards and are available in 22-18, 16-14, and 12-10 gauge sizes. Along with all of our insulated spade terminal options, non-insulated varieties are also available. A non-insulated spade connector is commonly used in applications without any special performance needs or unique installation characteristics. High-temperature spade terminals are the ideal spade connector for applications with high demand environments that may cause other terminals to melt. Flanged non-insulated spade connector options provide a unique design that prevents pull-out for a more secure connection. Our non-insulated spade terminal options are available in 22-18, 16-14, and 12-10 gauge sizes.
